The Tale of Two Katies

This is my "Katie" (Sara Katlynn). She turns 10 years old in a couple of weeks. For the last couple of years, my Katie has been begging for a kitten. The rules were very clear. Keep your room clean, do your chores, and you'll prove you're responsible enough for a kitten... up until now, she'd not been able to make the cut.

This is "Katie" - at least that's what her collar said. She's 11 weeks old, and up until last Wednesday, she was a resident at the Humane Society's Adopt-a-Pet center on Bearden Hill.

Katie became Katie's Christmas present this year (and yes, she got it early - how do you hide an 11-week-old kitten???). When we gave Katie the kitten, we told her that she could rename her, but my Katie wouldn't hear of it. No, the cat's name was "Katie" - and she was dubbed "Katie Kat Armstrong" the first day she had her.

While Katie has been a sweet, sweet kitten (very loving), she is still definitely all kitten. While bored, she tried to undecorate the lower part of our Christmas tree. And, just the other morning (at 6am), she obviously needed my attention, because she got it by climbing the curtains in my bedroom, and when she was caught, she just looked at me while she hung there as if to say, "What?"

It's been a very Merry Christmas for the two Katies so far. Merry Christmas to all of you.

Evans Family Christmas

What a joy to watch a child (now children) grow! The Evans family has graciously welcomed me into their lives for the last few years to help them capture those special family moments. Last Spring I shot their newborns christening ceremony, and this past Sunday I was welcomed into their home to shoot this year's family portraits.

I was so happy that the Evans decided to let me do environmental lifestyle shots for their portraits. Kids in their own environment - a family being a family in their own home. Those are the scenes we want to remember, and I hope you enjoy these photos as much as I enjoyed shooting them.

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas

... everywhere I go - even the studio. Here's a few shots from a recent Christmas Card Session. We attempted to mock the brand new GAP print ad campaign. You can view a slideshow of this full session by following this link: http://www.andyarmstrongphoto.com/calgalxmas/index.html
